I love shots like this. Reminds me of when my children still lived at home. Socks by the wood stove and jeans draped over the treadmill to dry.

Thanks; yes, it's that 'homeliness', the notion of the place being inhabited without the inhabitants being literally present. People's spirits live in their socks and jeans.

Still have the treadmill, but no kids home. My wife wanted to lose weight and thought treadmill. I made her buy the best there was, thinking her being Dutch she would use it more because it was not cheap. Right! Every time I'd walk by the thing it had clothes hanging on it and no people. I'd snicker and say, "Pretty expensive clothes drying rack you got there"!

I understand your reasoning. But apparently it worked the other way around: she refused to use it for fear of wear; it was so expensive, after all.
