Hmm, I'm in agreement with Clive, the second one works for me, slightly cropped could be better, but nonetheless, it has something.
Remove the extreme right bush/tree, crop the last two dark trees on the extreme left, take about 1m of footpath away from the foreground and you have a cleaner picture that is almost, but not quite, a panoramic format.
As a whole, those changes could be something where the sum of the changes add up as a group to be more than each individual change would or could be.
