This old school building in Kekoskee, Wisconsin, was moved to its present location in the 1930s, and has been a private home since then. I find the use of this old school building as a house intriguing in some way. Photo taken September 2016. Print made August 2019, 8” x 10”.
An old school house framed by trees and rocks along the garden path
It was moved to this place before World War Two’s wrath.
It was made into a home where families could abide
I wonder how many school treasures were left inside?
Interesting -- maybe it's for energy efficiency, but the windows look as though it was altered to become a defensive bunker! They were most likely multi-pane casement windows out to the next brick rectangle when new. (I have some experience with those!)
