The Mayville, Wisconsin, post office. Perhaps a bit brutal in architecture, this building, built in 1939, is on the National Register of Historic Places. The lobby has rich woodwork, especially the safe deposit box fronts. Photo taken January 2018. Print made February 2020, 8” x 10”.
My home town has a post office of similar architecture.... the entrance was more a more elaborate, decorative affair, with more steps, windows (same ones), double doors and ornamentation. Probably a case reducing costs by using the same basic design.
