Very cool! I agree that parades, demonstrations, etc are great places to photograph. Everyone's attention is on other things and most people don't care about having their picture taken.

Exactly right - they're usually interesting from a human interest perspective too, even if you don't really care about the reason. People expressing themselves or their views etc. in a more informal or theatrical way is a recipe for good photos.
