Lovely! Reminds me of the movie star portraits of the 30s and 40s.

Nice classic B&W portrait. Can you tell me about the lighting? Main, fill & hair? Natural, flash, or continuous? I ask because of the 1/4 sec. f/11 exp.

Hi Rolando,
The lighting was done with LEDs.
The key is an Aputure 600 bare head through a roll of Roscolux.
The fill is a simple 4'x4' white card.
The hair was lit with an Aputure 300 with a fresnel.
I used to do this same scheme with Arri's but the LEDs are much more comfortable to work with!
Best,
Rory

Rory, while I like the simplicity of natural and window lighting I do like technical portraits like yours, not to mention the Cooke lens! May i assume the white card and the feathers softly opened up the shadows under the neck? Forgive the questions but I love every aspect of lighting. I remember the old SV systems with tungsten lighting or the supposedly balanced blue bulbs!
That's some really nice gear you've had.

I love window light too, and like you I enjoy all aspects of lighting!
The card and feathers definitely opened up under her chin, although I would be fine with a bit of shadow there too!
