I sold and serviced a few Paramounts while working in a Schwinn shop back in the 1970s. Nice bikes, but very few of our customers could afford them.
Cyclocross was never very big here in SW Missouri. You'd think some of those BMX'ers might have been more interested after they grew up. We did have a few road racers for customers, including <John Howard>.
My Paramount was candy apple red with gorgeous chrome lugs. I traded a Waterford, Moser, and Kona for it. Sadly, it was stolen a year ago. That 1978 Paramount was the best thing I've ridden and I have owned a lot of bikes... including a Brent Steelman - which I still have and adore.
Those Brent Steelman frames look fantastic! Sometimes I fantasize about building up another steel lugged frame bike, but for me, I'm afraid that time has passed.
