Black Fode 38

Not going to make me famous. What's interesting is the image was made with a non achromatic single meniscus 12" lens from old binoculars. It might actually make a fine portrait lens. No color work possible though.

I am just a beginner.

Thank You

Kodak 2D with 6585 back / single meniscus lens of about f10 aperture from antique binoculars

Jim, you are the MAN!
A lovely shot with a toy that, I am sure, gave you wonderful entertainment at a low cost and great learning experience.
Must go back to Tonopah to earn a bit!

Pretty cool. You've got a very small sweet spot there. Love what it did to the headlights.

@CMoore The Kodak 2D is an old drop bed field camera manufactured by Kodak about 1930 or so. It is an 8X10" film camera and I have fitted a 6½X8½ reducing back which I used for this. 6585 is shorthand for that. For a lens I unscrewed the front off of an antique pair of binoculars. The lens is very primitive. Not different from a magnifying glass you would buy at a dollar store. It has no corrections at all, so all of the colors land at different places, thus the softness you see in black and white. Thanks for taking the time to ask. Yes, we speak in shorthand here and just figure everybody knows what we're talking about. Still curious, message me here, I'm always happy to try to help.

@jimgalli ...........Thank You. it was all pretty clear.
Mostly i was not sure how you got the binocular lens onto the camera.
Your explanation makes sense.
I am just a 35mm Street Photog, so your camera info was a bit "Shocking" to me.

Gaffer's tape. It isn't pretty. Not a bit.
