Alternative Footpath

Intriguing shot and a bit of a puzzle, which is what often attracts me to a photo. Can you say about why the tarpaulin, tank traps and alternative path came about? It look like cliff erosion but nothing says so and if is is the case then I cannot work out why the cover and blocks. Thanks

@pentaxuser Yes, cliff erosion. I'm not sure of the exact timescale but this part of the Suffolk coast does experience significant issues; the erosion has been going on for a very long time, at least centuries, as far as I know.

Thanks Tom. I thought it had to be erosion but the purpose of the tarpaulin and concrete blocks puzzled me. The tarpaulin might prevent further weakening from the rain but unless that part of the cliff is very stable I'd have thought that the weight of the blocks would make it worse. Mind you, only those who placed the stuff there might know
