Westin Hotel -- from Pine Street? Used to drive a cab and work as a courier in Seattle...

Donald will have noted the juxtaposition between the "new" architecture of the Westin against the old building that has be taken over by the Mariners and while he didn't call that out specifically, I'm certain he has reacted to it in very much the same way I did when I saw it. How about you?

... you've got your silly rounded circular building top of the Weston vs. the far more sophisticated rectangular (with a radius-incorporated short sided quadrilateral) building top. Which is more interesting?

As i recall, that lower, nearer building is also wedge shaped -- before the monorail was reworked to have an indoor terminus at the new shopping center built onto the Westin there was a sort of public market in the rest of that keystone block where Westlake meets Fifth Ave.

I've spent a fair number of hours sitting on the cab stand (which is no longer where it was) waiting to be whistled into the Westin for an airport run.

Not sure I'd call the Westin "modern" architecture, though -- it wasn't brand new when I moved to Seattle the first time, in 1983.
