A view of the Conservatory from the Shrub Garden on the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina. The photo was taken in September of 2018. This print was made in February, 2020 on 8” x 10” paper.
While I like the middle ground I think the foreground is too light. Could use some "burning" if I understand "dodge and burn" correctly. Also the extreme foreground is out of focus, suggesting a wide aperture, something that cannot now be fixed. The overall composition is nice, and my classical sensibilities appreciate the building being offset to the right.
While a Camera Club Judge would slate the 'Out-of-Focus' foreground it does not worry me - the actual building is very sharp. I have earlier version of that camera and lens.
I like the framing effect. At any rate, close foreground sharpness was unachievable with the light and equipment available (assuming far ground sharpness). The alternative would be further enlargement and cropping, which would have lost other areas on the side, given a fixed aspect ratio.
Pentaxpete should of course have a Pentax 6x7, what else?
