@@DrHSTGonzo Thank you, It's become a regular subject of mine with different new (old) cameras I'm trying out and it's only 5 minutes from my home. The road it's on is very popular with tourists, as it leads to the lighthouse (see my other post, same day). But no one stops near this very photogenic subject.

Beautiful shot!

Photos like this send me right to google street view. The cottage is right next to the road, but appears to be on private property. You shot it from the inside the fenced off area. Did you trespass? Ask permission? Do people in Valentia just not care? Or is it because you're a local, "You know, that guy with the old camera, the kind where you stick your head under a cloth? He's always wandering around."

Again, terrific job.

The land that house is on is owned by the trustees of the lighthouse. I know them well and work for them occasionally, running workshops at the lighthouse elsewhere around the Island that members of the committee are involved with.

I have a "pass" that gets me inside the lighthouse grounds for free (it's normally €6 a visit) as much as I want and has done so for the last 5 years, since I've lived here, because the work I do (including appearing on the tickets stubs for the lighthouse and on display inside) is considered to encourage visitors. So on that occasion I didn't ask permission. Technically, I did trespass but there is a large gap in the wall by the gate, so I didn't have to physically breach any barriers.

Yes, I'm well known as the local photographer - but I'm a small fish in a small pond, it's a tiny place. However, I always ask permission when I feel I should. For example, some of standing stones I have (and will) post here, are within a 3 minute walk of my house. I know all the landowners and say hello to many of them every day. But, if I want to go back on their land I ask permission again, every time.

I hope that covers it.

Stephen
