This was a conceptual piece that was taken on a day when it was raining or threatening to rain looking across tundra which included lichen encrusted pink granite boulders. I kept seeing something in the composition and finally adjusted the camera height so I was able to render the path at left to pass through the image right past the mountains and directly into the sky and clouds.
Rich, you keep bringing back all these memories of home with your images of Colorado. I saw this image earlier today, but didn't comment on it, since my monitor at work is very good, but now I see it at home and I am stunned. The sharpness and color are just fantastic!!!!
Thanks for the positive comments. When reviewing the images with the former Executive Director of the NJ Center for Visual Arts, where I used to teach outdoor color photography workshops, the Director selected this image on Fujichrome Velvia, rather than those on Provia 100 for printing. She felt that the Velvia image under these lighting conditions just had much more warmth, life, and hope to the image than those taken on Provia 100.
