The first time I work with someone, I like to start off with simple portraits.
After their 120 paper backing issues, I swore off Kodak for a couple of years (and have been very happy with Ilford), but this marks a return to T-MAX. Model is Emily Butterfield.
Very nice, that is, well-focused and the shadow on her face is understated but still noticeable. How is the scene lit, if I may ask? Is it natural light?
Excellent shot of a great model. Every time I see portraits like this I am tempted to put a copy in my pocket and the next time someone asks why shoot b&w when the world in in colour I'd pull this out and say: " That's why"
@Ken Bingham Thank you. Yes, natural light, which is my favourite for portraiture, but I stumble through other styles as well. I'm lucky that my place has 11 foot windows, and I've placed a 4x6 v-flat on the other side of the subject; I think it helps soften but still maintain some shadows.
@pentaxuser Thank you! I'll sell you a wallet-sized darkroom print for 1 million...wait...1 Billion dollars!
While I do shoot colour once in a while, I'm B&W more than 99% of the time. It's just what works for me, and it sounds like you too.
