@bsdunek Actually, Dr. Who has the blue police box, which is also virtually non-existent. I did photograph the mini blue police call box (more like police call pole) in Piccadilly Circus, but that was with my digital camera.

I have news for you, Ben: the blue pay phones in Philadelphia have already disappeared. Leave it to the Brits to be the last to get rid of tradition. Only a few years ago you got rid of your (1954) RoadMaster buses. - David Lyga
It is interesting that the telephone box is the oldest item (apart from some buildings) in the picture. Costa Coffee as a brand is relatively recent, the bin design is 21st Century.
Do the UK motoring organizations still have their own phone boxes still? I have not driven in the UK in a couple of decades. The last Police Box I remember was at the London end of the A1. When it was still the 'A1' and not the 'A1(M)'!
@Eric Rose The Lomo is an interesting beast and I've been having fun with learning the ins and outs of it. I've been loving the simplicity of the Lomo cameras in general - quite literally point and shoot, with the occasional thought to focusing range and film speed, everything else is taken care of for you. Having that immediacy of photography is a real help to me - I think more about what I'm photographing and how things are placed in the photograph and less about how I'm photographing it.
@TheFlyingCamera
I remember the blue police boxes from my childhood but I had forgotten about them it's so long ago that they disappeared without a trace .
The iconic red telephone box is indeed becoming less common but there are still a lot of them. The kiosk was designed by the architect Sir Giles Gilbert Scott (who also designed Liverpool Cathedral amongst many other buildings). The are 8 versions of the box all starting with the letter K for "kiosk". This is a K6 designed to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of King George V in 1936.
The blue police boxes are rare and have not been in use by the police for a very long time (since the widespread use of walkie talkies)
@grahamp Yes there are orange SOS telephones every mile on motorways
