More street portraits. It's getting easier to just approach people and say straightforwardly what I'm doing -- to my ongoing surprise, most are open to it. Honest, upfront - always the best way.
I really should talk more to my subjects. Normally I do...for this series I've just been going with names. It's pretty minimalist which is by design, especially given how I plan to display them (more on that later).
As for selection - I wish I could sum it up concisely but I just 'know it when I see it'...people who are interesting in their own way, who stand out to me, who are their own unique individual outside of fad, style or trends.
In other words, no hipsters. No people keenly aware of themselves - I guess I like unique people outside of trends or fads. Maybe outsiders, maybe eccentrics. To paraphrase Winogrand, people who I want to see how they look photographed. Something really interesting happens when you create an image of someone, you create something new but you take a closer look at the person in a way you wouldn't if you just looked with your eyes.
Anyway, thanks all.
