If you want to envision the Mother of all Traffic Jams, try traveling from King of Prussia, PA to Philadelphia at evening rush hour. The 18 mile journey can take two hours.

Thank you David. Yes the iPhone X camera is good (a very kind birthday present from my long suffering partner). However, these were the kind of clouds that just sparkled -you would have known instantly that they were going to work in a photo no matter film or digital. I took quite a few photos on the iPhone because (due to my partners illness) I did not think it was reasonable to take all my film gear on this trip. I noticed that the camera is easily confused with metering and needs the kind of tricks I use with film -meter where you actually want the exposure correct and lock the exposure for that. The sunset photo uses that technique as well.

Gosport to Portsmouth is much the same in terms of traffic. A few hundred yards across the harbour on the ferry (foot passengers only) or 17 miles to drive around. That can take hours. It's awful!

This hold up was caused by no less than 3 accidents ahead on the Autobahn. As I sat in the stationary traffic I hoped that nobody had been killed or seriously hurt (I also wondered how long my bladder would hold out). I reflected on how beautiful the countryside was all around and how we don't see it when we zoom along at high speed on the motorway.

The railway line is deliberate. It is suggesting that this would have been the escape from the traffic jam. Use the train!

Kino, I stated 'waste of time' because it surely was NOT! This is just a jostling of idiomatic semantics, whereby the objective meaning is challenged by the subjective inference. Definitely no ill-will intended. - David Lyga
