Bob, yes, there is a huge difference in contrast. Scala is very contrasty compared to negative film. My usual negative film is FP4, which is much more forgiving than Scala. With Scala, you have to be spot-on with the exposure, otherwise things go horribly wrong. I use a spotmeter to get that right.
