@jtk I'm not being "authoritarian". I'm offering a critique. And Colin knows me well enough to know that. And he's certainly capable of making up his own mind about my comments for himself - he's a big boy. And where in anything I said do you see the words "You must...", or anything derogatory for that matter?
Hey guys - Scott's comment was intended as civilized discourse and constructive criticism - exactly how it was taken. Frankly, I think he's right...that's the sort of reason I enjoy posting images here, to get an objective opinion I wouldn't have received otherwise.
I do indeed know Scott as not only a polite and respectful person but a talented and committed artist...my apologies if any other impression was conveyed by anything I said. Truth be told, the shot IS about geometry and how it occurs in daily life (and how people exist within those lines). I do wish I'd levelled it out before posting!
Best,
Colin
@Colin Corneau Colin, no photo is "about" anything other than what's seen by viewers. Makes little difference what the photographer intends...the image belongs to the viewer.
@TheFlyingCamera IMO it's better to pay attention to what various viewers have to say than it is to insist that those viewers are wrong and that your (or my) response is right. You've made it clear what YOU think best. I respect that, but I'm more interested in what I see.
