Five Gen Ektachrome

1971: five generations.
When my brother's first child was born, my mother called the local Connecticut newspaper, the Waterbury Republican-American and they expressed interest, took the picture, and published it.

A rare sight. Good on your mom for calling them and even better for preserving the photo for so long.

The photographer had used either multiple flash and Daylight stock OR photofloods and Tungsten stock !

I'm w/ Pbro - bravo for preserving. I've seen 4 gens, but never 5. Thx for posting.

The five generations lasted only until 1973. But, yes, my mother did well to call the newspaper. If you look closely you will see that my brother Geoffrey's brown jacket is more lit on the upper half. Obviously, this was a lighting error on the newspaper's part. But, again, the 'reason' for the five generations is the fact that Grandma got married at age fifteen (to a 31 year-old man). Hilariously, today he would have been arrested on child molestation charges!!!!! - David Lyga

@pentaxpete The evidence for tungsten ("photoflood") is obvious in the shadows behind electrical cords as well as behind Barry's glasses frames. The orange color is probably due to use of daylight film (e.g. Ektachrome X) with tungsten lighting. My own Ektachrome X film from 1970, processed by me, has remained color-neutral. It might have been difficult to find the appropriate Ektachrome B (tungsten version of Ektachrome), especially in 120 format, resulting in use of EX (or the faster EH), accepting orange color.

That technical BS aside, it's wonderful to have made and saved that 5 generation photo.
