Hi John. I particularly like this one. Although the other has good supporting details in the background, somehow find this one very engaging. Lots of personality. Best, John.

how about the details?

I much prefer this version - it's a more natural pose, the second seems over-formal to me. I'd be tempted to dodge the left hand side of his face, though - it's a little dark for my taste. The highlight behind his head is also a little distracting, but other than that it's an excellent portrait.
