Informal portrait of my niece. I would have liked to have a little more space in the top of the picture, but background was distracting so I had to crop just above hand.
Quite nice, I agree about the tight cropping, but everything else is there to make it into the nice picture that it is. The glass coffee table is what makes this better. If the coffee table had been an opaque surface like timber, then I think that would intrude.
I would suggest your exposure was probably able to be around 1/125 at f/2.8 with that push to 1600 in that kind of light. Trade off is rather black blacks with minimal detail, but the white collar of her blouse gives the whole a certain lift.

Lightning was manily from candles and I recall exposure would have been more like 1/30 s at f2. Negatives came out very thin.
Aha! Candlelight, certainly would have been down around where you suggested, I assumed some kind of incandescent light source powered by electricity, not wax power.
