One of many from a "photo walk" -- connecting rod linkage on a non-functioning steam locomotive at the New Hope & Ivyland tourist RR. (For all my castellated nut fans ... )
Positively castellating! 'Lovely, Mr. T. 'Does me good every time you do heavy iron. 'A slight nostalgia that the tool of choice was my first slr. Texture on the metal is outrageous.
Images like this are like riding my bike - makes my heartbeat race. Very nice!
I need to come out to see you some time! Wife and I occasionally drive over to Lambertville/New Hope for lunch or dinner (pretty much New Hope venues). And i have done a couple bike rides up and down the Delaware and Raritan Canal tow path. Visually great, peaceful, and loads of fun - always with friends, making it more special.
Thanks guys! @michaeorr with the squirrelly spray painted Indian trails that pass for roads in these parts, New Hope is about an hour eastward from me. The town has all sorts of interesting sights, but this railroad "yard" proved a target-rich environment for an olde rust aficionado; there was more than I expected. One is inclined to wonder whether there is serious intent to restore this stuff or maybe they had to buy a whole collection to get a couple of the things they actually wanted. They currently don't have an operating steam loco, although I think one that's on the mend is hidden in a building. They are running tourist rides with diesels (and also haul some freight). There are no particular barriers to getting to that stuff and I will consider a future trek with Bronica and tripod. I have walked and pedaled on the Jersey side a few times but can't seem to get time and ambition to intersect this year.
