Boy do I ever remember this park as being the 'den of iniquity' back in the 70s. New York's East Village had to come a long way for the simple reason of rising real estate prices, but, back then, for a bried time, I had an apartment on East 7th Street, between Avenues B and C and left after it was broken into. By the way, the rent was $55 per month!!! - David Lyga
David, thank you. We've been in the neighborhood since 1975 I still have a copy of my first lease ($150.00 per month for a 3 room shotgun (railroad) apartment)) on East 7th Street between 1st Ave and 2nd Ave. We might have been neighbors!
HiHoSilver, Greatly appreciated. I'm carrying either my XA or XA4 pretty much all the time now, as they fit easily in my work bag.
jnanian, thank you. I lurk a lot, but will try to participate more often.
oolalajp, thanks so much. The Park is like a little retreat, and can be beautiful when the weather is "bad".
Miehrman, E 7th Street between 1st and 2nd Avenues might only be a couple of blocks from E 7th Street between B and C but, I assure you, at least then, it was a MAJOR difference. Back then, your venue was actually livable. Mine was NOT. - David Lyga
