A beauty, to be sure.
 
Now, that's a MOONRISE, mate! And over a much more interesting place and time, too.
 
Peter, its breathtaking. Saying more would only be repetitive.
 
Thank you all for your comments ! This is one - if not the - favorite place of mine to photograph. No wonder it was picked for the opening scene of Star Wars (with a few more moons !). The sight of the pyramids emerging from the jungle is just mindblowing.
This was taken from the tallest known pre-colombian stucture, Temple IV, roughly 65 meters tall and about 30 meters above the canopy. There are several species of birds of prey nesting in these structures and nearby trees. As the sun starts to warm up you can see them cruising for food above the crowns of the trees.
