Very nice..

Tidbits: The image looks a bit light and overly purple/pink on my screen..
I might (somehow) lose the twig branches encroaching on upper left side..maybe a crop from top to make a more pano image, as I don't think losing the few floating clouds near top will detract.

It's also pink on my screen. I looked at it because I thought it had been toned that way and I wanted to see if you said how you did it.I like both the pinkness and the lightness but presumably on your print there is no pinkness. I'd lose the stray twigs on the left but definitely keep the clouds. The old bridge, lone horseman and summer's afternoon feel about it go well together.

Incidentally what has split grade printing given you here that straight printing wouldn't.?It looks the kind of scene in which a straight print would have been equally good but I could be wrong. I'd love to see the straight print as well to compare.

Thanks for the comments.
No idea why it has come out pink - probably due to the scanner. My scanning technique is simple - slap on the print and press the button.

The twigs - yes they need to go - I'm sure they were not on the focusing screen when I pressed the button!!! The reason why I had not cropped them out was that I did not know if the crop should be horizontal or vertical. I like the clouds so I did not want to lose them, but there again a pan shot does look rather nice. So opinions please.

Split-grade - Just trying it out really. I like the methodical test each step approach and the lack of paper waste.

Oh and by the way it was a chilly February morning.

When considering an image crop a good rule is to isolate any part that doesn't contribute to, or distracts from the story. Your story here is the bridge, rider, and the weather, so in this case I think the twigs must go since they are off-putting, together with a strip of vacant water off the bottom, but retaining the base of the bridge in the frame. Also consider reversing the print horizontally, I think this would further strengthen it, although some may feel that the rider is then the wrong way around.
