What a SMART Young Soldier I was - a full CORPORAL in my 'dress Uniform' at home on leave from BMH Iserlohn, Germany in April for my 21st Birthday -- I was demobbed in the September and had to hand it all back-- but i was allowed to keep my Army Boot Brushes which my Wife STILL USES
My poor Old Dad on the right was in the Royal Navy -- he finished his term then came WWII and he had to stay in until 1945-46 -- his shop was Torpedoed in the Atlantic 1940, and they had to make their way to USA for repairs -- he told me the sailors lined the deck and when they saw all the LIGHTS of New York they cried as we had been under BLACKOUT since 1939 !! The Brits were taken in by kind Yanks -- my dad had the Nason Family of Rhode Island and we corresponded with them for years after the war i remember they they moved to Clearwater, Florida and both died.
