The huge tubes that were used to divert water into the now decommissioned Stave Lake Hydro Power generating station. The largest have a diameter in excess of 3 meters. The site is now a fascinating museum. I've been meaning to post some of these for a while...

You mentioned mid-tones were big to you & this shows why. The grittiness of the pipe comes through strongly. Access to the Willamette Falls (first commercial US hydro - 1889) station is horrible. I'll be happy if I do half this well.

the tones, and the somewhat organical aspect make me irresistibly think about H.R Giger works...
