Interesting subject and the curve is striking. I can't help but thinking it just isn't quite sharp and the light/shadow lacks "punch". If I was printing it I would choose a harder grade (more contrast). Maybe this is due to JPEG compression. The gentleman in the wheelchair adds the human element as do the flowers. A harder grade would give this a more stark feeling, evoking the brutality of war. On the other hand, perhaps the softness is the silence after the dust has settled so to speak.

Svenedin - Thank You. I'll see what contrast adjustment brings. I appreciate your kind help.

How's building a darkroom coming? Are there any community darkrooms in your area or an APUG buddy close by? Scanning is a such a drag. The real fun and magic happens in the darkroom. Just don't forget to take a good bottle of Scotch in with ya :wink: Did you give up on PyroCat?

Darkroom isn't proceeding, though I've been drawn to seeing what I could do w/ a tiny kodak enlarger in the bthrm. I remember Barnbaum's quote of a guy that insisted the scotch (and most of a day) were essential. I loved the good humor of the line.

Svenedin - I worked the scan on contrast, and it made quite a difference - you were quite right. 'Not re-posting 'cause it can be tedius to see the repeats. Again, I appreciate your help.

Single malt Scotch is essential to fine art printing. Anyone who disagrees is a hack :wink: I've spent many hours in the darkroom with Barnbaum. If you can stomach his political tirades take his printing workshop. You didn't answer my question about PyroCat.

Glad it made a difference HiHo. It's a shame follow up pictures cannot be posted in the discussion of a photo. I wonder whether the moderators could request this feature? For me there is a lot to learn in the gallery as well as admiring other people's work.

I really like the composition - and yes, a little more contrast could make an improvement.

@Svenedin
That would be a 'nice to have' ... The only way to add a picture to a discussion in the Gallery is the 'share' - function from flickr or ipernity with the BBcode.

@Eric Rose
Never heard about developing with Single malt Scotch ... :unsure:
