That's a catchy perspective of a rather amazing hunk of mechanical complexity (not to mention some challenging lighting which emphasizes the 3-dimensional aspects).

DW, Thank You. It had my attention hard. 'Was a rough day w/ gear, light. One film back locked up, cable release failed. I never new Porsche had made diesel tractors (actually another company for them). 2 more rolls drying, but they're small format.

I'm a recent subscriber, so I've just started looking through the galleries. I enjoy your images. I'm commenting after this particular one because it answers a question I didn't know I was thinking. "Do other states have vintage machinery gatherings?"
I grew up in ND, and there was a steam threshers reunion in Rolag, MN. That I've been to both as child and adult. Those old machines are amazing.
Also, you're giving me clues to some things we have in Washington that I didn't know about.

MTGseattle, yes other states have such gatherings, there's a sort of subculture networking out there quietly. Here in Pennsylvania, down near Lancaster, there is the Old Threshermen's Reunion, and there are some other gatherings around the state. Usually there is some sort of dedicated museum, and then a once/twice/thrice a year special event. There are also places in Pennsylvania and Minnesota that I know of where they have some colossal natural gas compressors that occasionally run for demos. 60 ton twin cylinder monsters! I think tractor pulls are fairly common in farming areas too, often with antique beasties.

I was back in the Midwest for the 2015 Rolag one ( Western Minnesota steam threshers reunion), and what also struck me as really cool was that there are some younger generations out there running the big old equipment.
