Taken on a club trip to the island. I am trying to print this image quite dark but it doesn't have the glow. Does anyone know how can i do that. Thanks
I think this already quite impressing. The composition is very strong and I really like the light coloured pebblestones in the front. What do you mean, the glow? We can't judge that from the screen.
I also like this image the way it is. Are you perhaps wanting to make it look like the picture was taken in a lower light situation, but without losing the highlight detail? If that is your intent, the most effective method is to go back and reshoot under lighting conditions closer to what you have in mind. Analogy: if you grow an apple and then try to make it taste like an orange because you like oranges better, you will be dissapointed. Your print is a very good job with the negative that you had.
If you print it darker, you may loose the important details in the shadow parts, and the tree will become a silhouette. I think it's a fine print the way it is, wish I could see it in person.
Hi Tim I wanted the clouds to stand out and move the focus from the driftwood a bit. I wanted to print the rock on the side quite dark but leave the enter once light. The wood in silhouette. Not sure if it would work.
This is very nice as it is, but if you want to shift focus to the sky you must darken the foreground rocks which are currently the area of greatest contrast which is ALWAYS the most attractive to the eye (not a rule you can mess around with). I actually like those rocks alot since they form a nice gentle arc below the wood which rhymes quite successfully with it. The sky is fine, but not so spectacular that it should be made to dominate the other strong elements in this picture.
