You know, there really are benefits to opting for low contrast. All is there, including the outdoors, and nothing seems to suffer. Unfortunately (but not always) we have become acclimated toward poster quality contrast in order 'to make a statement'. However, your 'statement' is just as good: it is more peaceful. - David Lyga
Amazingly sharp image here, which is probably due to 4x5 (size, first of all, duhhh) and HP5 which never seems to let us down and Pyro which does not let us down either and mostly, I surmise to and a cool handed photographer who knows his stuff... well done, Sir. My congratulations!
Yes, I had to say that because so often pictures like this are simply rejected for lack of 'verve'.
Here, there is a peacefulness that has obviated tension. And tension seems to be a misdirected 'necessity' within our uppity culture. An analogy might be the incessant need for 'piped music' when entering a grocery store. - David Lyga
Fantastic, rmann! Everything you do has such a rare, almost indescribable quality, and i have enjoyed all of your Erie Canal photographs - there is so much in just those few miles from the lake through Buffalo that screams for attention. All i have been able to do so far is take the 3 hours tourist trap ride through the locks with the wife (but we did enjoy the respite from our normally chaotic life back in NJ.)
