My father in law worked in a coal mine when he was young. He's 88 now. The stories are pretty intense. Safety was the last thing the owners cared about.

I'm anything but objective - I just love Andrew's work & the mine series delivers alot of impact to my sensibilities. 'Wish others would do similar projects & Andrew also. They're great. I don't see shots of the old masters that are better, but then they didn't often shoot anything industrial/historical, save for Margaret Burke-White. Its a most powerful telling of the stories.

This link will take you to a street view on Google Maps showing the old apartment building, as well as the mine in behind it. It's all been tidied up since I photographed there. World Heritage designation as well which was great for the town. I loved it, especially another site about a kilometre down the line, when it was overrun with weeds.
