A side-street in Nyeri, Kenya. Dirt road, donkeys/asses eating plastic bags from a pile of rubbish. There was a dead donkey a few yards away but I did not photograph that. Taken in 1994.
I am amazed at how well the colors reproduce from an over twenty year old C-41 negative ! Do you scan your negatives ? I have no experience with scanners and a large amount of 35 mm slides and negatives.
@ Peter. I was looking for some Kenya wildlife photos (which I haven't found yet) but found some others including this one. The prints are somewhat faded and soft and I was never very happy with them -the films were processed and printed by Boots, a high street pharmacy chain. I wondered whether the negatives were better and indeed they are. They have been stored in the dark in a cool, dry room.
Yes I scan negatives and slides. I bought an Epson V800 so that I could scan old slides, mainly for my mother. Buying the scanner has had the unintended (but great) consequence of leading to me actively using all my old camera gear again. Unfortunately, I am not in a position to set up my darkroom for printing for the foreseeable future.
