Mr HiHoSilver -- well it's the cost of TRAVEL to get anywhere here in England that puts us off -- rail fares are the most expensive in Europe and although petrol has gone down a bit it's the PARKING costs anywhere of 'photogenic interest' that is so expensive too ! I went to Switzerland once with the Pentax Club and we were given a 'Rail Travel Discount Voucher' for Poor Bloody Brits as Swiss rail fares were the highest in Europe -- now it's the other way round !
I have been to Cirencester, sweet little town on the edge of a roundabout linking to the road to the little village of Fairford (the pub in Fairford was my first time in a pub). I stopped in to an "antique shop" and was offered a glass of sherry by the proprietor, by 3:30pm was herself quite sloshed. She was very friendly and among all the glass and china was surprisingly stable and careful even if she couldn't form words quite as precisely. I love the Cotswolds, the hills, sheep pastures behind stone fences, the views like this fantastic image, the little streams that run through practically every village or town with the stone bridge crossings, cobblestones, and still alive and industrious.
