One of only three images taken while hiking through the Buckhorn Wilderness in the Olympic National Forest, August 16th 2014. The weather moved in quickly and blocked all views shortly after this shot.
Talk about bringing some grandeur home on a little strip of film. I really admire this image. Views that so few people will have the opportunity to see, captured in a finely executed photograph. I can tell already that if I had been there and taken that photo, it would have been ruined because I would have tilted down to get as much of the mountain as possible and thereby cutting off the powerful scene above that is inseparable from the mountain itself. Eastern mountains have neither the scale or the absolutely rugged imagery that the western ranges have. Thanks for putting this image up!
I love the way the red filter brings out the clouds and contrast...it has that Ansel Adams look about it. I need to travel more to find great shots like this.
