Peace Fountain, Capitoline Hill

need to learn to crop. both images are good but with a little cropping they could be a whole lot better. I love sq format, but not because it is sq but because it allows me to crop so many ways.

By the way I know your work is really good. Just put this in for those who are stuck on not cropping.

How would you crop this shot? It was composed square. I know the benches in the foreground are not perfectly symmetrical, but everything else (the fountain, the trees and the railing behind) are about as perfectly symmetrical and aligned as they can be. The benches are just asymmetrical. I can see a horizontal crop of this to reduce the trees and visually raise the fountain, but I'd like to hear your take on it.

Can't see how you can crop this without ruining the intended composition....the benches hardly register with me.

This is so wonderfully Kenna like (and I am not suggesting you intended to imitate him at all...it's just a favored aesthetic of mine!) No way it should be cropped. I am impressed you had the courage to let the leaves go to black btw. Good decision. Just an excellent photograph. I hope the print is rewarding for you.
