This is the first time I use 4X5 and developed the negative in tray. I really like it despite a few scratches on the neg. Many thanks to Peter, David and others at the print exchange gathering for showing me how to do things right.
Highpeak-should have made a negative of the piano! This looks really good and I just wish that my first tray developed neg looked half as good as this. I am quite often in NJ and if you care to do some follow up work in the field when it gets warm feel free to contact me
Keep going....!!!
Best, Peter
I'm curious about what caused the scratches to your neg? The tray or your handling? I consider tray development to be the safest and simplest way to do my L.F. negs. The Patterson trays, with their sunken lengthwise grooves work great.
Peter, when spring comes, I will go out and visit you.
Paddy, It must be my handling. I did 4 sheet of film in that tray, I didn't even think the corner of the sheet film is so hard that it can leave marks on the emulsion if you didn't shuffle them carefully.
Thanks for the encouragment, guys.
