These massive machines truly are both beautiful and impressive. All that enormous mass and weight delicately balanced on those handful of tangent points. If I close my eyes I can feel the warm damp steam, smell the oil, and hear the random hissing. We can't know for sure if the world was better back then. Probably not. But seeing one of these living relics, sometimes it seems as if it could have been, in some long forgotten way...
