Wow. Interesting picture. A great ethereal, ominous and mysterious picture. I also cropped it right at the edge of the right side tree trunk removing it but leaving the leaves, and giving him a visual "out" and path which your version sort of traps him in the center and balances him although he is moving forward. I sort of like my version better because it adds more movement and forces him to the right and out. But either way a very cool picture.

I have tried this film and developer together and was horrified at the results, but obviously the problem was with the subject matter and not the method. This is gorgeous.

Yes, it is... gorgeous, that is.... this is what it is all about fellows and gals... go ahead, be jealous and then go out and do something just as good if you can... I have been trying all my life... Logan

'Dang right I'm jealous, Logan. You need color film to see my shade of green. Bravo Ron. 'Very sweet. 'Has a 'loaded' mood, similar to the mood of the movie poster of James Dean Blvd. of Broken Dreams - only on a country path.

Thank you all for your feedback! Blansky, I see what you mean. I will make a few prints from this photo, with the current frame and cropped like you indicate. I often need to let photo's "mature" in my mind (typically a couple of months) and make some prints to find out how I like it best.

I really find that too. They need to marinate for a while so I generally print them so I can observe them, then decided if something else works better or not. The crop is a really tough call. I do love the balance and the right side fence, but it keeps the picture a bit static. Perhaps in either case, a very slight dodging of the path going forward and to the right would improve the movement. But damn, that's a great picture.

I have just noticed that you put this on the critique gallery and while I admire the composition and lighting, I think the grain detracts from what could be a great shot using a standard fast film like Tri-X or HP5.

I really like this one...I can always tell a great photograph when it's easy to imagine it framed on the wall........
