Harpa

From walking around in Reykjavík last August. Their new concert hall and conference center is called 'Harpa', which I believe is simply Icelandic for 'harp', the instrument. Beautiful building, and I was struck by its many angle.

Thank you! See here: http://unblinkingeye.com/Articles/Harvey/harvey.html Note that nobody actually has the recipe for 777, except for those who make it. That is one problem with Ed Buffaloe's article.

Re: Harpa We were there this Sept. and I too made similar images. I thought the walls resembled basalt columns. Plus 1 that it is a beautiful building.

While it's an interesting architectural piece, I might be tempted to crop out the busy bottom. Crop it right where the black is that is under the table, leaving enough black for a "base", and then I think the vortex is more interesting and striking. Then you have the table and the people balancing out the swirling vortex.

Re: Harpa I'll try to post the image I mentioned which is coincidentally something as mentioned by blansky. I didn't manipulate it and have printed on Ilford FB multigrade on 11x14 so this is from a scanned negative as the print is too large for my scanner. As soon as I get some 16x20 I'll print it larger.

I like your picture better than mine. You caught the design elements of the building much more clearly. Interestingly, your shot of the building was exactly two days after I did mine, on August 30.

While his is a great picture, I think I still prefer how dynamic yours is if you crop it like I suggest.
