I had a hard time with this one. I lost him back in November 1993. He was the finest most kind man I've ever known and sorely missed. The scan doesn't do he Cibachrome justice but I felt it was a good photo of him as we chatted on the front porch on my visit to see him and my Mom in NC.
Thanks, most appreciated. I'm still working on getting scans as sharp as my originals. I had to lower the contrast a bit as Cibachromes are contrasty by nature but don't do well uploading to the Internet.
'Haven't commented before, being afraid of my ambidexterity (either foot fits easily in mouth). It gives a strong reaction each time I've looked at it (7+x). 'Still can't talk about the photographic aspects. I think you'll be awful glad you got this shot for the rest of your life.
Glad you like it, Silver. I have been glad I not only took that shot. We were sitting on the front porch of my old home place and I of course, with camera in hand, began talking of old things and he turned to look straight ahead. As I set the focus and exposure, I said, "Dad" and he turned. That's when I pushed the shutter button. I'm also glad I did it myself on Cibachrome for posterity. Those chemicals and paper were expensive back then but the longevity is probably only surpassed by Kodak's dye transfer process. It will outlast me.
