Very nice, however you've cut off her feet! It would not have done any harm to the picture if you stepped back a foot or two. :smile:

I'm torn on this. And I don't need the feet in it to make it. To me the feet in would make it more like a snapshot, in fact I might crop it a bit higher. Some of this work with your daughter is problematic to me in the fact that, is your daughter your model, or are these are portraits of a girl namely your daughter. The distinction is where in the genre of photography does it fit in. Sally Mann had the same type of issues, to me. Some might say it's a distinction without a difference but it talks to the issue of what is a portrait. Lets say it's not your kids, but just a model that a photographer liked to use. You'd plan the shot, get the correct clothes, and head out on many different days and make your planned photographs. I've used models like this in multiple sessions many times. We just go out and make "art". Sort of like your wife's aunt and her cool car pictures. They are obviously not portraits per se, but instead managed setups with fun cool pictures. They may or may not reflect much about the actual people in the pictures. On the other hand are the pictures of Violeta portraits of her during stages of her growing up. Are they a reflection of her personality and her life, or are they just setups. As with Sally Mann it starts to be children as planned art compared to children growing up. And to me they are two different genres. One is real and one is sort of manufactured, even though to the viewer they may seem real. I'd be interested to hear your take on this.

Hello, Blansky. Thank you for your comment. Another thoughtful one to study. Most of my photos with my family are just potraits of my family. No more. I love them and I've the luck to have got several fine cameras and lenses. Sometimes I like to arrange a special photo but most of the times they are just family pics. However, to be honest, I'd like to begin to photograph another subjects or just simply arrange more "purposeful" sessions.Thanks again.Un abrazo. Antonio
