Shot this on TMY-2 4x5 from the newer bridge. Carbon transfer print was made from an X-ray copy negative. The bridge was lightened using a dye-dodge mask (actually a bit of graphite on a sheet of mylar).
This is one of my favourite bridges. I used to watch for this bridge when I was a kid from the train window. My grandfather told me a story when he and his older brother drove from Vancouver back to Kamloops back in the '30s. There was heavy fog, so my grandfather got out and walked in front of the car over the bridge until they were back above the fog. The CN train line runs in behind the old bridge (you can barely make out the cut) and there were fewer trees back then (late 60's) obscuring its view.
This is a great image Andrew. I tried to find this bridge whenever I travelled from Kamloops to Vancouver (and back) but for some reason I always seemed to miss it or couldn't find a turn-off, or just plain forgot.
Thanks! The park entrance is very near the newer bridge's on the east side. It's very easy to miss if you're not paying attention. If you've gone over the new bridge (coming from Kamloops) then you know you have missed it. I've photographed it in all seasons, including winter. The park is closed then, but that has never stopped me.
