A rather interesting and pleasant face and an interesting angle. A few things confuse me though, what is she leaning on, what is that strap around her shoulder and that shiny thing around her neck. The picture says to me that it's sort of a lazy Memorial Day type weekend ( because of the flag.) and it's sort of a porch sitting afternoon. But those things I mentioned bother me. So while the mood and the angle offer me that impression, those confusing elements, make it too much of a lean here, do this, and that, without putting the rest of the elements together.
I like the relaxed mood and atmosphere of this very candid scene. A crop up from the bottom narrows the perspective but may not hold the same candid feel to the image. I do like it both ways.
Thanks for the feedback. Well, Heidi's parents are not doing so well health wise, and nobody knows how long they'll be alive. This portrait is for them. The shot was from Memorial Day weekend (good catch, blansky), and Heidi usually carries lots of stuff around her neck, like camera bag, jewelry, purse, and so on, so they will get it. Actually, the feedback of the items being confusing is good, because THEY will understand when they see the picture. Heidi's father was a wood carver (and a quite good one), and this was photographed at the porch of a mill that had been restored for things such as events and craft shows, and it's where he used to exhibit his work for show and sale. It was a beautiful day and Heidi wanted them to have a portrait of her there. Mission accomplished.
