Excellent picture. Love how the man made structures not only overpowers the people but adds shelter as well. It has a very industrial quality to it and almost Soviet feeling to it of the state so dominant over the individual. The mood, the grain and the chosen composition are incredibly good.
When I rounded the corner on my first visit and looked directly up at it, I instantly felt strong primal visceral fear. Oh my god, that thing is freakin' HUGE. How can it possibly stand on its own like that? What if it falls down? I'd be doomed. I was momentarily swamped by the possibilities before reason gained a foothold. The dam at Grand Coulee is still the biggest and scariest manmade thing I have ever laid eyes upon.
I immediately thought of that long ago fearful moment when I first looked at this photograph.
