An interesting cute picture. I notice a trend in your portraits to either have the child (mostly) to either smile with teeth, or no smile and let their face sort of just hang. There is an in between technique that is just lets say, pleasant. When a person starts a very small smile, the eyes "pop", come alive, which they often don't when they aren't smiling. The technique, which you yourself need to practice in a mirror so you can demonstrate it to your subjects is simply to pop the corners of your mouth, meaning very very slightly start a smile. It's very subtle and not as far as this little girl and not as far as the insipid Mona Lisa. Like I say, very subtle, but you will get a pleasant look, the eyes will sparkle but the mouth is still not smiling. On my site, www.michaelmcblane.com I use it a lot. Let me know how it works for you.

Thank you blansky! You are right ... I need to learn about poses. I'll try to follow your advice ... I've not a technique, just trust on my kids I suppose. Of course I compose the photo but those subtle details are not always on my mind. So, thank you again. I'm going to visit your web site righ now ;-)Best regards,Antonio
