Stars Over Manda

Stars Over Manda

Final image from my coal mining series, Japan. I struggled to get this image. Many times my lens fogged up, ruining the exposure. Exposures were usually around 5 hours, starting as soon as it was dark. Camera was set up just before nightfall. Some areas were light painted with a flash. Not very many star trails are visible. There is a lot of light pollution in Japan, unless you go out in the mountains.

This is great Andrew. I've been wanting to do star trails for a while but here in Kansai it's pretty much out (even Biwako).
