This flock of grackles was flying in and out of the fog, settling every once in a while on a tree. I took this photograph as the flock (except for two dawdlers) decided to move on.

Very interesting concept, one that I may use in the coming winter. I've never heard of a grackle before, googled it, now I know. Mick.

Thank you kindly for the comments. It's hard to make out from the scan, and even in the print, but the trails of the birds in flight show wingbeats- something I hadn't expected to capture.
All the best,
Daniel

Very nice. I have just such a tree at my place that seems to attract flocks of birds. I'll have to try this.

Thanks, Bill. This was another instance of waiting with excited anticipation for the film to come out of the fix. It's a little bit like Christmas morning... and it's very addictive!

All the best,
Daniel
