The girl who changes things

The girl who changes things

The first family session I shot where I knew something was very wrong. My intuition was screaming at me and there was nothing I could do but focus my attention on this sweet little 18-month-old baby. Years later, I learned her father was incarcerated for an extremely violent crime, and the puzzle pieces fell into place.

I haven't looked at these images since the day I shot them, but she changed the way I photographed families forever. More intuition, more flexibility, less judgment, fewer assumptions. She must be 13 or 14 now and I hope very much that she is happy and healthy.

Beyond visually exquisite...deeply emotional even without knowing the story. Bonds with animals transcend judgements and are truly pure. Masterful, Cheryl.

All I can say is... damn you're good CJ. I have always loved your work.

the day you stopped seeing people and started seeing souls--you are especially adept at that
